Workshop Services
Three services. Each clearly defined.
Every Horolux service is scoped before work begins, priced in advance, and documented throughout. The three services below cover the range of work the workshop takes on.
Back to HomeOur Approach
How services are structured at Horolux.
The three services at Horolux are defined by movement type, not by brand or price segment. This makes it easier for watch owners to identify the right service without needing a prior diagnosis — the category describes the watch and the work involved.
All services follow the same intake procedure: the watch is received, assessed on the bench, and an intake note is produced before any work begins. This note records the watch's condition at arrival and forms the basis of the service agreement.
Pricing is fixed by category. There are no labour rates or per-hour calculations. You pay the stated price for the defined service, and if anything additional is found during the work, it is discussed before any additional cost is incurred.
Turnaround varies by service type. Quartz battery services are typically completed the same day. Mechanical services take two to three weeks. The Vintage Programme unfolds across multiple visits by its nature, with timing agreed at each stage.
Battery & Quartz Movement Service
Walk-in · Same-day · RM 480
A walk-in service for quartz watches covering battery replacement, gasket inspection, dial-side cleaning, and a movement check on bench equipment. Customers receive a written intake note describing what was found and what was replaced, with the original battery returned if requested. Suitable for everyday wearers, fashion pieces, and lower-complication quartz watches. Typical turnaround is same-day for straightforward jobs.
- Battery replaced with appropriate replacement reference
- Gasket inspection — seals checked visually
- Dial-side cleaning included
- Movement check on bench equipment
- Original battery returned on request
How it works
- 1Bring the watch in during workshop hours — no appointment needed for quartz jobs
- 2Watch is assessed on the bench and intake note produced
- 3Battery replaced, cleaning and movement check carried out
- 4Written intake note returned with the watch at collection
Mechanical Service — Three-Hand Movements
By appointment · 2–3 weeks · RM 1,850
A full bench service for non-chronograph mechanical watches: disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of components, fresh lubrication on jewels and friction surfaces, timing on a Witschi machine, water-resistance check on case integrity, and a regulation pass at the end. Customers receive a service report describing timing rates in five positions before and after. Suitable for daily-wear mechanical watches that have not seen a bench in three to five years.
- Full disassembly of movement
- Ultrasonic component cleaning in watchmaker's solution
- Fresh lubrication applied to specification
- Witschi timing — five positions, before and after
- Water-resistance pressure test on case
- Regulation pass — rate verified before return
How it works
- 1Arrange drop-off by appointment or contact us in advance
- 2Watch inspected and intake note produced; expected collection date agreed
- 3Full bench service carried out over 2–3 weeks
- 4Service report with timing data provided at collection
Vintage Restoration Programme
Staged programme · Multiple visits · RM 4,480
A staged, conservation-minded programme for older mechanical watches where parts are scarce and dial integrity matters. Work is split across visits: an initial inspection note with photographs, a written restoration plan with options, and a final service that prioritises original components, sympathetic part-making where needed, and reversible decisions. Customers may opt out of any step. Typical pieces include mid-century manual-wind dress watches and early automatic calibres.
- Photographic record of condition at intake
- Written restoration plan with options provided
- Original components kept where possible
- Sympathetic part-making used only as a last resort
- Reversible decisions — no irreversible changes without agreement
How it works
- 1Initial inspection visit — bench assessment with photographs, no commitment required
- 2Written restoration plan presented with options and parts assessment
- 3Owner reviews and approves plan — any step may be declined
- 4Service carried out to agreed scope; collected with full written record

Shared Standards
Protocols that apply across all services.
Intake Documentation
Every watch is documented at intake. No work begins without a written record of the watch's condition on arrival.
Fixed Scope
Scope is agreed before work begins. Additional findings are discussed before any additional work is carried out — never assumed.
Fixed Pricing
Each service has a stated price in Malaysian Ringgit. The price stated is the price charged for the defined scope of work.
Single Watchmaker
All bench work is carried out by one watchmaker. Your watch does not pass between technicians, and the person who worked on it can explain every decision made.
Data Handling
Customer details collected during intake are held only for service correspondence and not shared. Refer to our Privacy Policy for full details.
Final Check Before Return
All completed watches are checked on the bench before being returned. Mechanical services include a regulation pass as a final step to confirm rate.
